thirunyAnachampan^dha n^AyanAr - part VI (The Holy Ash)

The minister kulachchiRaiyAr(1) of pANdiya kingdom went and saluted the lady maN^gaiyarkkarachiyAr who amidst the thorns of hostile religions raised as a rose spreading the fragrance of the pashupati. She ordered to prostrate and welcome the surgeon thirunyAnachampan^dhar who came to cure the cancer of forgetting shaivam in that thamiz land. With that nice order the brilliant minister went outside madhurai to salute and receive the prodigy wanting the good for the king and the kingdom. The Queen telling the king that she was going to worship the Lord of thiruvAlavAy(madhurai) went to the temple to hail him. The light of shaivam champan^dhar arrived flocked by the devotees with the shining of the Holy Ash. Hearing the sound of the instruments proclaiming the arrival of the young champan^dhar, the minister of analyzed faith fell down in that direction saluting their good fate and went ahead with great love and prostrated in front of the saint's palanquin. Coming to know about the saluting minister of the kingdom the young saint kindly came out to embrace the devotee who toiled for the radiation of shaivam. Seeing the well forted madhurai the saint asked him where the abode of the beautiful crescented Lord was. The minister showed the sky-scraping towered temple of the Lord of kUdal. Prostrating on the ground the child poet sang the Lord in maN^gaiyarkkarachi praising the sincere devotion of the queen and the minister. They got into the temple of the Dazzling Wonder.

In presence of the Poet-Head of the first thamiz chaN^gam (litterateur assembly) the shaivite poet saluted and sang the n^IlamA midaRRu. While coming out he saw the superior woman devotee maN^gaiyarkkarachiyAr. She fell in the feet of the prodigy and with stammering voice wondered the good fate she and the country had for him to be there. The beacon of shaivam replied to her that he came to see that wonderful woman who lived in the path of service to the God in the mid of the domination of other religions. After she went, along with the devotees he was hosted by kulachchiRaiyAr in a mansion. In the night the intolerant Jain preachers met the king n^edumARan who was a follower of them. They provoked him telling the arrival of matted haired Lords devotee champan^dhar and it was for defeating them in an argument. They mislead the illusioned king to let them assassinate the child by setting fire to his mansion by mantras. The disturbed king went to bed. The queen asked the reason for his worry. To the king who told about the arrival of champan^dhar for philosophical debate she advised to accept the right philosophy that gets established in the discussion. She went in the happiness of the prodigy s arrival. Minister kulachchiRaiyar met her to share the concern that the Jains who were very fanatic and cunning would do some harm to the saint. The noble devotees decided to sacrifice themselves if something bad happens to the saint.

With the vengeance of killing the opponent rather than finding the truth in meaningful discussions, the Jains who claimed to be most merciful used their mantras to ignite the residence of the child of God. What mantra can demolish the mansion where the holiest of all mantras the Holy Five Letters are being chanted ? Their mantras failed pathetically. Scared about the kings loosing faith if came to know about this failure of their mantras, those dark minded people cunningly put fire in the darkness on the mutt of the saint. The servants hurried with the news to champan^dhar. The devotee afraid whether the misdeed would affect the other devotees who were residing in the mansion was irked by the way the king fails to protect the people and by his misrule. Keeping the holy feet of the Lord rudra in the mind he sang cheyyanE requesting the Lord to pass the fire slowly to the pANdiya king. He said slowly because the king was the husband of maN^gaiyarkkarachiyAr and beloved by kulachchiRaiyAr and was about to accept the truth of shaivam. The fire of the misdeed blew up as pain in the stomach of the king. The next morning appalled by the crime of the miscreants in Jains, the sincere devotees the queen and kulachchiRaiyAr came to know giving them life that it did not affect the saint and other devotees. While feeling very bad about the base deed of the miscreants they were told that the king got a terrible heat disease. The loving queen and the loyal minister anxiously rushed to the king. With the best medicines of the renowned doctors failing to reduce the pain the king was suffering in pain. The Jains were shocked when even their feather broom was burnt when they tried to brush his body with that. They saying mantras sprinkled the water from their bowls on him. It like the oil poured in fire increased his grief. The king shouted them to leave.

The worried queen and minister realized it was because of the crime committed against the saint thirunyAnachapan^dhar. They went humbly near the king and told him that if chIrkAzi saint cures not only that illness but even the sufferings of the birth would vanish. The king with the salvaging words of the well wishers entering his heart told them that he would believe and accept the side which cures his horrible disease and if they dared they could call champan^dhar. Why wouldn't they dare when they trust the Essence of the vEdhic analysis ! They went on the stream of happiness with the minister walking ahead followed by the queen in the palanquin to the saints place. The two caring devotees fell in his feet begging his pardon for the sinful act that was done against him. The height of love champan^dhar in response asked whether anything bad happened to them ! They told that the sin went to the king as heat disease to roast him in pain. They and the king would be rescued if he wins the Jain misdeedful. Wanting to get the blessing of the cool Almighty first, he worshipped and sang kAttumAvuri and vEdhavELvi asking Him to fill the worlds with His fame. He cried not for him but for the enlightenment of all the creatures in the glory of God. Highly determined, higly disciplined, highly devotional, highly brilliant and highly selfless that young child would live for ever high in the thoughts of devotees. With the minister going in front and the queen following him, champan^dhar went in the pearl palanquin to the palace of the king.

Arriving at the palace kulachchiRaiyAr went to tell about the coming of the prodigy to the king. The king becoming respectable asked to put a seat for him near his head and asked the minister to bring him in. The Jains worried about the survival of their philosophy tried to persuade the king to tell that the Jains were able to cure him even if they were not able to when they and champan^dhar try to cure him simultaneously if he wanted to save the religion. The king refused to go against the justice and said that he would be neutral only. When they were worried by his answer the saint who came to rescue the land arrived there. The king seeing the child saint and slowly coming out of illusion folded his hands and requested him to take the seat about his head. He asked the town he hailed from. The prodigy sang the padhikam indicating the twelve nice names of his town chIrkAzi. Intolerant at champan^dhar sitting at the decorated seat, the Jains obscuring their fear showed up their anger surrounding him and shouting. The unperturbed champan^dhar asked them to tell the truth as they perceived. They in the fear of defeat bluffed in chorus. The queen unable to bear this anxiously told the king that champan^dhar was a child and alone while there were many Jains shouting against and asked him to intervene. The king told that instead of arguing they should prove their respective truth by curing his pain. The prodigy told the caring devotional queen that though he was a small child he was not low for the Jains as the Lord of thiruvAlavAy stands with him.

The Jains boasting that they would cure the left part of the body and challenged champan^dhar to perform in the right part, directed their mantras with the feather broom on the kings left body. Instead of allaying, their deeds amplified the kings suffering. The king looked for thirunyAnachapan^dhar. Understanding his request the saint praising the God who is the medicine for all diseases and His Holy Ash the sacred most substance, smeared the Holy Ash on the right part of the body. His body became pleasingly chill on the right part. The left was boiling and suffering. The king felt the joy of liberation and suffering of the hell, the nectar and the poison in the right and left parts respectively. He told the Jains were defeated and ordered them to get away. With modesty the king who came nearer to the path of being blessed requested the humble marvel making slave of the Marvelous Lord shiva to show mercy on him curing the left half as well. Praising the God of Lords again the gem of shaivam smeared the Holy Ash on his left part as well. That brought out the king completely from the pit of the pain. The queen and the minister fell down on the feet of the prodigy. The king saluted with the folded hands on his head praising champan^dhar for rescuing him from the company of undesirable and the disease he got because of them. The Glory of unmeasurable Lord was shining there making shaivam shine well in the future.
